Illegal Tin Mining in Kundur Disadvantaged State

Wild or illegal tin mining which allegedly had been operating for 6 months in District of West Kundur, Karimun regency, Riau Islands (Kepri) Province of state financial harm.

Alwi Hasan also confirmed it had sought to stop the mining activities, but still ongoing.

''We've sent a letter to the West Kundur Sector of Police, because of tin mining activities in Kundur breaking the law,'' he said.

Tin resulting from illegal mining activities in the Kundur is no guarantee smuggled abroad.

According to Law No. 4 of 2009 on mineral and coal, tin mining results can only be exported after being processed into tin bars.

Meanwhile, the company does not have a smelter or processing the ore into bars.

Information collected, a number of heavy equipment engaged in mining operations with production from 25 to 300 pounds per day.
