Hearing of the House of Representatives (DPRD) Karimun Regency with the Department of Mines and Energy in the Parliament Building, on Tuesday revealed the existence of tin mining in one village in the district of West Kundur.
Among legislators urged the Department of Mining Karimun Regency to stop mining activities because it did not have a permit.
Chairman of Commission C of DPRD Karimun, HM Taufik said tin mining on the mainland has caused jealousy Kundur local residents.
Every day they see the activities of mine, but they also should have the same opportunity to perform mining activities.
''Tin mining without the permission of state financial harm. In the absence of permission, it is clear that mining does not pay levies or taxes to the government,'' he said.
The Commission C also urged police investigate and stop the mining activities because it had violated the law.
Meanwhile, Head of Mining and Energy Karimun Regency, Alwi Hasan said it never gave permission to the tin mining activities.
Alwi Hasan also confirmed it had sought to stop the mining activities, but still ongoing.
''We've sent a letter to the West Kundur Sector of Police, because of tin mining activities in Kundur breaking the law,'' he said.
Tin resulting from illegal mining activities in the Kundur is no guarantee smuggled abroad.
According to Law No. 4 of 2009 on mineral and coal, tin mining results can only be exported after being processed into tin bars.
Meanwhile, the company does not have a smelter or processing the ore into bars.
Information collected, a number of heavy equipment engaged in mining operations with production from 25 to 300 pounds per day.
State loss would be enormous if it does not stop illegal mining and including the looting of natural wealth and the sea surrounding Kundur known tin-rich minerals.(kepri online daily/kabar kepri)
