Three Countries Company Build Power Plant in Batam

PT Tria Talang Emas (TTE), a consortium company of three countries, namely Malaysia, China and Taiwan plan to build a steam power plant in Batam, Riau Islands Province.

Director of PT TTE, Datok Chris said, the capacity of power generating steam engine was about 120 megawatts.

''Machine steam power, we expect to operate in 2013,''he said Datok Chris.

The company under his leadership, he said, would bring the fuel supply of coal from South Kalimantan Province, Indonesia with a total supply reached 720,000 tons per year.

The supply of coal, according to him came from a subsidiary of PT TTE in South Kalimantan, so the price is certainly cheaper than other companies.

''Today, we are completing construction of the installation. While permission has been completed,''he said.

Batam Mayor Ahmad Dahlan said, the investment plan of PT TTE is expected to boost electricity supply in Batam which is increasing from year to year.

Electricity needs in Batam, according to him would grow with the population growth and industry.
