Batam - Eight companies from six countries in Asia, Europe and the U.S. interest in investing in Batam, Riau Islands, with a value of about 10.4 million U.S. dollars.

Director of Integrated One Stop Services and Public Relations Board for Concession (BP) Batam, Dwi Djoko Wiwoho on Friday, said the eight companies are from Singapore, Malaysia, India, America, Germany, and South Karea.

"The average company is interested in the field of electronics. There are also some who are interested in shipping," said Djoko.

He said that in 2012 BP Batam is actually more likely to conduct a campaign to Asia, especially East Asia after the crisis in Europe and America do not get better.

"But it turns out, American and European companies are still interested in investing in Batam. It's something exciting for Batam," he said.

He hoped that countries of the Americas and Europe still choose Batam as a major investment

BP Batam this year will gain promotion to the few countries with a value of Rp 7, 5 billion, much bigger than last year which is only Rp1, 5 billion.
