Investments in Free Trade Zone Reach Rp10 Trillion

Economic growth in Karimun free trade zone (FTZ), Riau Islands province is quite encouraging. Until now, the value of investment in the region duty-free imports had reached Rp 10 trillion.

Karimun Regent Nurdin Basirun said the value of the investment came from 60 companies that have invested in the free trade zone covering most of the District of Meral and Tebing.

It consists of 60 companies with domestic companies and overseas, ranging from small to large companies.

The companies are engaged in the shipbuilding industry, civil construction, trade and storage of fuel oil company.

Some large companies that invest trillions of dollars, in antarnya PT Saipem Karimun Yard. The Italian company of Eni group will invest at Rp1, 5 trillion, as well as fuel oil storage company from Germany, Oiltanking which is preparing its land in Pasir Panjang Village, Meral.

While the shipyard industry companies who invest in the tens and hundreds of billions of dollars such as PT Multi Ocean Shipyard, PT Karimun Marine Shipyard, PT Tri Karya Alam.

Then, civil construction services company PT Piacentini Turchi Indonesia and many other companies.

Karimun Regent optimistic investment growth in the free trade area would open up new jobs and have an impact on reducing unemployment and poverty.

''PT Saipem Karimun Yard, is expected to require ten thousand workers. Not including other companies,'' he said.

He expects citizens to support the growth of investment in order to keep the situation remains conducive.

''Investors want the comfort and security in running their business,'' he said.
