Cardig Interests So Hang Nadim's Cargo Carriers

PT Cardig Aero Services Inc. (CASS) interested in becoming a cargo terminal operator in the Hang Nadim International Airport Batam, Riau Islands.

"So far CASS-step approach in a feasibility study into the airport. Cooperation agreement has also been carried out feasibility studies," said Director of Integrated Services One Stop (OSS) and Public Relations Agency for Concession (BP) Batam, Batam Dwi Djoko Wiwoho on Friday.

However, Djoko said, CASS step is not to be the airport manager or co-build infrastructure but only to a cargo terminal operator at Hang Nadim Airport.

"If so, they will just be a cargo terminal operator which has managed BP Batam, excluding other parts including the management of the airport development plan," he said.

Djoko said the assurance from the CASS will be known in late 2012 after a feasibility study is completed.

"Currently the study is still ongoing, the end of the year became known certainty," said Djoko.

Previously, Head of Sub Directorate of Public Relations and Publications BP Batam, BP said Ilham Eka Hartawan Batam allocate a budget of around Rp14, 7 billion for memperbahaui technology to support the performance of the Hang Nadim International Airport.

"There are seven tools that will definitely work began in June at Hang Nadim Airport with a total value of Rp14, 7 billion," he said.

Seven projects are procurement Web Met Aero Rp2, 5 billion, baggage x-ray equipment at Rp399 million passenger terminal, air-conditioning supply and installation of the terminal building waiting room cassete Rp509 million.

Further equipment direction fender valued at Rp1, 8 billion, the equipment "aeronautical data processing system" (ADPS) Rp3, 8 billion, weather radar equipment reconditioning Rp2, 6 billion and the construction and improvement of the airport fence budget perimetri Rp2, 8 billion.

Ilham also said some other plans such as the addition of airport capacity will not be done this year because they are still able to accommodate passengers.

"Hang Nadim carrying capacity could reach 5.5 million. Until now the maximum number of passengers in and out in the new year about 3.8 million," said Ilham.
