BP Batam Form of Bridge Damage Identification Team

Batam - Agency for Concession (BP) Batam, Riau Islands, will form a team to identify the damaged of Barelang Bridge that was hit by a barge APC Aussie I, Wednesday (6/6).

"The team is comprised of BP Batam technicians and PT Samudra Indonesia, the agent for the ship bridge impactor. The team will identify the damage from Barelang Bridge prior to repair," said Director of Integrated One Stop Service (OSS) of BP Batam, Dwi Djoko Wiwoho in Batam, Friday.

Djoko said the purpose of team building is primarily to find and repair the damage done to the bridge design was BJ Habibie.

"Although the study was carried out together, but who will bear the cost to repair the bridge was the ship owners," said Djoko.

He added the repair process is also possible only at the center of the body damaged bridge.

"Not all of them or build new ones. What are the possible damage repaired," he said.

Director of Planning and Development Agency for Commercial Free Trade Zone and Free Port of Batam, Istono said the bridge was state assets, however, because of damage caused by others, who should be responsible is the cause of damage.

"BP did not ask for compensation to the company, but such improvements before being hit. However, BP requested are involved in the repair process," he said.

Methods of implementation involves repair technician who used to be involved in the construction of the bridge.

"Those who know the exact construction of the bridge, they should be involved in the repair," said Istono.

Tugboat APC Aussie I hit 6th Barelang bridges connecting the island of Galang Island with New Galang Island, Wednesday at around 3:00 pm.
