Batam - Riau Islands Provincial Government increase the budget for the housing uninhabitable rehabilitation program from Rp154 billion in 2011 to Rp165, 8 billion by 2012.

"The total budget of the house uninhabitable rehab program for this year amounted to Rp256,7 billion, which consisted of Rp165,8 billion in budget revenue and expenditure (budget) province, and Rp90,9 billion budget seven cities/regencies," said Riau Islands Governor (Riau) Muhammad Sani in Batam on Friday.

In 2011, he said, the total budget used for a similar program at Rp231 billion, Rp154 billion to the provincial budget breakdown and Rp77 billion budget seven cities/regencies in the Riau Islands.

"As per our commitment, if the city/regency budget add to rehab houses, the province will also add to the proportion of about two to one. Point given the provincial budget on the city/regency doubled from their budget," said Sani.

Sani said the total uninhabitable houses in Riau Islands based on data from the end of 2010 amounted to about 35 thousand are spread across seven cities/regency as Riau Islands.

In 2011, he said, the province in cooperation with the city/regency has rehabilitate more than five thousand homes, while 2012 will be 3,600 houses planned renovation.

Governor target until the end of his term in 2015, as many as 17-18 thousand homes uninhabitable complete renovation.

Rehab uninhabitable houses program (RTLH) in Riau also get help Rp1, 4 billion from the central government through the Ministry of Social Affairs.

Social Services Minister Salim Al Jufri Segaf in Batam on Thursday, said the grant to rehabilitate as many as 128 housing units Rp10 million each and three units of the environment means a mediator, each for 50 million.

"What the Ministry of Social Affairs today gave a boost only, not a social problem may be resolved on their own without the help of all parties," said Minister of Social Affairs.
