240 Singapore's Students Visit to Karimun

240 students Whitley Secondary School Singapore study visit to a number of secondary schools and excursions in Tanjung Balai Karimun, Karimun regency, Riau Islands province, Indonesia, 7 to 10 March 2012.

Head of Department PE & CCA Whitley Secondary School Mr Subramaniam, Wednesday (6/3) said the students held a comparative study of junior high school (SMP) State 1 Karimun, SMP Muhammadiyah, SMP  Santo Joseph and SMP Cetiya Vidya Sasana.

"This visit is to exchange information, culture and education," he said.

According to Subramaniam, comparative studies are the extracurricular program to develop students' horizon of thinking and knowing the learning program in Karimun.

"We will hold a cultural and artistic performances," he said.

The students, he added, also visited the Hidayatullah orphanage in Sememal, Pasir Panjang Village, Meral District.

"A visit to an orphanage social activities," he said.

He said that the group then held a spring training camp and the military at Mount Jantan, Pongkar Village, Tebing District.

"Semi-military training and camping at Mount Jantan to realize the students' discipline and self-development," he said.

Group of students were staying at the 60 room Aston Karimun City Hotel. In a comparative study and excursions, the group boarded Karimun's typical antique wooden buses.(source)
