"Batam is a strategic position made vulnerable to smuggling, both food and drugs are harmful to health," said Head of the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM), Lucky Oemar Said in National Working Meeting of the Food and Drug Administration in the Harmoni One Hotel Batam, Thursday.
In several raids conducted in Batam and Tanjungpinang some time ago, found a lot of foods such as pastries, chocolate, soft drinks, of foreign origin who do not have permission BPOM and contain hazardous materials.
Furthermore found many powerful drugs, herbs, and foreign cosmetics also endanger your health if consumed in public.
"We need cooperation with other relevant parties to implement controls for dangerous goods do not enter and circulate within the country and society," said Lucky Oemar.
