Indonesian National Army (TNI) held war exercises in Dumai city, Riau province on Saturday (10/12). This war exercises was followed by thousands of troops in the Navy, Army and Air Force with full combat equipment.
Six warships owned by the Navy that will follow the stop the war exercises in the waters of Tanjung Balai Karimun, Karimun regency, Riau Islands province on Thursday (8/12).
The six warships are the KRI Makassar 590, KRI Banda Aceh 593, KRI Banjarmasin 592, KRI Barracuda, KRI Sutanto 877 and KRI Silaspapare 386.
Eastern Fleet Combat Force Commander First Admiral Sulaeman BN on KRI Makassar 890 said the presence of six warships and hundreds of marines navy in the Karimun waters to check the readiness of troops, logistics and equipment to be used in the war exercises.
"We stopped at Karimun to check the combat readiness of troops and equipment before the war exercises in Dumai," he said.
Purpose of the exercise, according to him, to hone the combat skills of the soldiers.
KRI Makassar 590 commanded by Marine Lieutenant Colonel (P) Fadelan said this warship with a length of 122 meters and weighs 7800 tons. This warship is capable of transporting 700 soldiers, 11 tanks, five and six amphibious tanks to transport personnel.
Marine Lt. Col. (P) Fadelan said the warship are equipped with a function as a conveyance or a "landing platform dock" produced by South Korean company, Daesun Shipbuildings & Engineering in 2005.
