The debt crisis that hit Europe has not affected the growth of investment in free trade zone and free port Karimun, said Vice Chairman of the Commercial Free Trade Zone and Free Port of Karimun Board, Muhammad Tahar.

"We have not seen affecting from crisis in Europe, especially for foreign investors who invest in the European free trade zone," he said in Tanjung Balai Karimun, Riau Islands Province, Thursday.
According to Muhammed Tahar some investors from Europe, such as PT Saipem Karimun Yard, fabrication and offshore companies from Italy who officially operational since December 3, 2011 has not been declared to suspend production activities.
"Saipem is the first investor with the largest investment since the status of free trade zone was inaugurated in 2009," he said.
Meanwhile, he continued, the company fuel terminal from Germany, Oiltanking which the company was preparing its infrastructure in Senang Gulf, Meral District also still remain with the plan.
"Until now, only two companies that originated Europe. While the company's sub-contractor Saipem, Piacentini Turchi Indonesia engaged in the construction services are still operating as usual," he said.
He said the crisis in Europe also had no effect on investment plans of foreign companies, such as Leighton Company, an offshore drilling rig construction is planned to invest in the Bay of Nice, adjacent to the location of Oiltanking.
"Leighton is based in Australia and continue with plans to invest in Karimun," he said.
He also said a Korean company also is exploring the investment plan in infrastructure.
"We expect investment in the FTZ continues to grow and is not affected by the debt crisis in Europe," he said.
