Commercial Agency Karimun's Free Trade Zone (FTZ), Riau Islands province declared electrical power supply for the region will increase by 20 megawatts (MW) in 2012.
The addition of 20 MW electric power derived from steam power generating machinery by PT Karimun Power Plant, a private company engaged in the field of electricity.
The company has opened an office located at Padi Mas Shopping Complex, Tanjung Balai Karimun. Office of PT Karimun Power Plant was inaugurated by the Acting Assistant to the Administration of Karimun regency government on December 30, 2010.
President Director of PT Karimun Power Plant Tommy Emmanuel has said it will build a steam power plant substation in the Pangke Village, Meral District which is central to the growth of investment in FTZ.
Generating machinery that built the company using coal fuel, the price is cheaper than diesel power engines. In addition, technical team building steam power generating machinery that was imported directly from reputable companies from Europe.
The company has prepared a land area of 30 hectares for the construction of substations steam engine power plant in the village of Pangke.
Karimun Regent Nurdin Basirun said investment growth in the free trade zone will grow rapidly if the electricity supply to the industry are met.
During this time, he said, investors have much to invest, but is expected to rise significantly if electricity is available. (kepri online daily)
