Kepri Province Allocated Rp232 Billion For Outer Islands

The government of Riau Islands (Kepri) Province with seven districts and cities in the region allocated funds amounting to 232 billion rupiah for poverty alleviation and empowerment of communities border and outer islands.

"The funds amounting to Rp232 billion was allocated through provincial and district / city. The goal is to alleviate poverty and empower communities outer islands, "said the Riau Islands Governor, HM Sani during a visit to Tanjung Balai Karimun, Sunday.

HM Sani said that big budget allocated to implementing a number of programs such as housing rehabilitation unfit for habitation, the development of seaweed cultivation, construction of educational facilities, health and infrastructure facilities supporting social economy.

"We hope that each district and city can work together to support the concept that started this year we planned. Our hope is to reduce the concept of the development gap between urban areas with the islands, "he said.

Regarding economic development, he said continues to increase budget for the incentives fishermen and development of seaweed farming.

"As an islands province at the border, maritime sector is a priority because in line with the vision and mission of the Riau Islands, one only the development of seaweed farming, "he said.

In Karimun, the development of seaweed cultivation is centered in the central district that proclaimed Moro as a region Minapolitan.

"Our visit here is also to review the cultivation of seaweed in there. We include employers who would assist with marketing the crop. We also accompanied Mr Rokhmin Dahuri (former Minister of Fisheries and Marine) that have expertise in that field, "he said.

Special Allocation Fund

HM Sani said, the concept of border community empowerment program in line with central government. Because that, he hopes the proposed special allocation funds (DAK), which proposed to the central government agreed that the program operate optimally.

"This program can work if supported by all parties, including the central government. DAK for the development of border already we're proposing and hopefully approved, "he said.
